BHETA names first partner in find-a-distributor scheme

German flatware, cutlery and tabletop accessories manufacturer Carl Mertens has asked for its profile to be listed in the member zone of the BHETA website with a view to pairing up with a UK distributor. Based in Solingen, the company has been manufacturing its mid to high-end products since 1919.

Housewares sector director at BHETA, Will Jones, commented: “Finding UK distributors for overseas manufacturers, and conversely overseas distribution opportunities for UK manufacturers, is what BHETA Connex is all about.

“The service will run via the new BHETA website and interested parties will be encouraged to register their details. BHETA will be running a proactive campaign to involve as many suitable companies as possible. ”

Meanwhile, the association has pronounced its recent Homebase event “a phenomenal success”. The meet-the-buyers day brought 60 would-be Homebase suppliers together with 31 Homebase buyers across 16 categories, giving everyone a chance to interact outside of the usual buying channels.

A total of 158 appointments took place at the event, which was held next to Homebase’s Milton Keynes headquarters.

BHETA says the buyers reacted positively to the initiative, meeting with a number of companies they had never been in contact with before. It now hopes to run the Homebase Drive For Growth event once or twice yearly.
