BHETA ‘adds value’ with Amazon

The British Home Enhancement Trade Association (BHETA) is holding a joint open forum for all its housewares and DIY members with the senior trading director of Amazon Ian Bradley as headline speaker.

The event, which is on the theme of how to add value to products in the eyes of retailers, will take place on January 23 followed by a networking lunch. The venue will be advised nearer the time.

Speakers will be ACID, on registering products in a design protection scheme; Amstel on ensuring that products are tested and meet the current legal standards; and the Good Housekeeping Institute on adding value through third party product endorsement. The use of packaging as a means of communicating added value stamps of approval will also be discussed.

BHETA DIY sector director Peter Stone said: “Amazon is clearly a key target for many of BHETA’s members so hearing more of Amazon’s plans and its thoughts on the retail market will be excellent. It’s clear from the many top retail guests we have welcomed in recent BHETA forums that ways of making a product stand out from the crowd is vital – and this event will provide a lot of valuable practical advice on how this can be achieved.”

BHETA housewares sector director William Jones added:”We will be issuing full details of the agenda via the BHETA website a little nearer the time. We recommend that members register their interest with myself, Peter Stone or Hayley Davis (hd@bheta.co.uk) as soon as possible.”
