Best gifts are those not on the wedding list

Over one in 10 wedding guests fail to take a gift to a wedding, with the younger guests being the worst offenders.

Best gifts are those not on the wedding list

According to a survey by wedding gift website Engraved Gift Ideas, 12% of guests have gone to a wedding empty handed, 66% of those being aged between 16 and 30.

The poll also found that although most guests stuck to the wedding gift list, with 56% taking the safe choice, 67% of couples admitted that their favourite gift was something not on their list. Some of the more unusual gifts received included a salmon mould, a toilet roll holder, condoms and underwear.

Other results revealed that newlyweds have a long memory when it comes to their wedding gifts, with 40% of married couples considering what a couple spent on their gift when it comes to buying for them.

Wedding guests are also more giving when it comes to family rather than friends, with 42% of guests spending up to £50 on relatives compared to 51% choosing to spend a maximum of £30 on friends.
