Housewares designer and manufacturer BergHOFF has scooped four Red Dot awards for product design.
The Red Dot Design Awards are divided into three categories: product design, communication design and design concept. Manufacturers and designers from 54 countries entered their products in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2017 category. An independent expert panel assessed each entry based on criteria including innovation, quality, functionality and ecological compatibility.
Organised by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen at Essen in Germany, the ‘Red Dot’ is a sought-after internationally recognised seal of outstanding design quality.
BergHOFF’s winning products were all designed in-house by Pieter Roex and Kenneth Willaerts at the company’s international headquarters in Belgium.
The four products are:
GEM cast aluminium non-stick cookware
GEM’s ‘innovative design, high quality materials and remarkable attention to detail’ caught the jury’s eye. Product highlights include a full disc base for superior heat distribution on all hobs, durable non-stick, and an easy-click handle which can be removed and replaced with one hand for transferring from the hob to the oven. This range will be on show London trade show Exclusively Housewares next month.
LEO colourful kitchenware line – spoon rest
Launched at Birmingham trade show Spring Fair in February, this silicone multifunctional spoon rest is designed for holding lids, kitchen utensils or even tablets; keeping the kitchen worktop clear while cooking.
LEO colourful kitchenware line – cutting boards
Launched at Birmingham trade show Spring Fair in February, this cutting board collection features three wooden cutting boards with special built-in features. These include a juice groove, making it easier to serve cooked meats; an angled edge for the mess-free transfer of chopped ingredients to a plate or tray; anti-slip feet; and an angled shape for optimal drying.
RON wooden bread board
This board is for slicing, cutting or serving all kinds of bread or pastries. One side is grooved and made of bamboo, while the other side is a food-grade plastic surface which also acts as a removable crumb tray.
