BBC announces two new shows with Nadiya Hussain

Celebrity cook Nadiya Hussain will be fronting two new cookery shows on BBC One and BBC Two.

In a new two-part documentary series for BBC One, Nadiya will travel to North America to discover how migrants are influencing modern American cuisine, and on BBC Two Nadiya will return to what she loves best: baking her favourite treats.

In ‘Nadiya’s American Melting Pot’, Nadiya will visit two of the most diverse vibrant hubs in North America – California and Louisiana – to find out how generations of migrants are changing the national menu.

Nadiya said: “I love meeting people who are as passionate as I am about sharing the food of their homelands. I learnt so much about the amazing ways that cultures mix in America to create exciting twists on delicious local delicacies. I can’t wait to share my American adventure!”

In ‘Nadiya Bakes’, Nadiya is back on BBC Two for the first time since winning ‘The Great British Bake Off’ in 2015 to share her passion for baking.

Across six half-hour episodes and one 60-miunute summer special, Nadiya will delve into a different bake, from choux pastry to celebration cakes and biscuits. She will be travelling around the UK visiting extraordinary bakeries to discover the stories behind treats – from Glaswegian churros to a Ghanaian bakery in Tottenham.

Uncovering new recipes and techniques, she will bring back what she’s learned to her own kitchen to create twists on the original. Nadiya will also respond to emergency call-outs to visit members of the public who are organising a big celebration that requires a spectacular bake for a hungry crowd.

Nadiya commented: “Nothing makes me happier than baking. I’m so excited to share new recipes and learn from other passionate bakers along the way in my newest series for BBC Two.”

Commissioning Editor, Factual Ricky Cooper added: “To have Nadiya baking again feels like a massive treat for viewers. I can’t wait to see what mouth-watering collection of cakes, biscuits, pies and pastries she’ll be rustling up for herself, and for the people she meets all across the UK.”
