Bakeware is selling like hot cakes, says What More UK

Retailers are selling bakeware as fast as the shelves can be stocked, according to What More UK.

The Lancashire housewares manufacturer, which supplies bakeware brands Baker & Salt enamel oven trays and Push Pan cake tins, has set up night shifts to keep up with demand.

Director Tony Grimshaw OBE said: “There are two types of people in the UK at the moment: there are those at home on furlough looking for things to do, and those working harder than ever to make up for staffing restrictions.

“If you’ve got time on your hands, and the kids are off school, home baking is the perfect activity. Making a loaf of bread requires time and patience, but the end product is easily worth the effort.”

What More UK also produces the home storage brand Wham and manufactures many other products under licence such as supermarket own labels. It won the Service Award: Supplier category of the Housewares Innovation Awards 2020, organised by Datateam Business Media, publisher of Housewares magazine and, in partnership with Spring Fair.
