Former Bake Off presenters Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins have been confirmed as the hosts for BBC One’s brand new Saturday night prime time show, ‘Let’s Sing and Dance for Comic Relief’.
The series is being billed as ‘supersized’ from ‘Let’s Dance for Comic Relief’ into ‘Let’s Sing and Dance for Comic Relief’.
‘Let’s Dance for Comic Relief’ was last shown on BBC One in 2003. Celebrities performed famous dance routines in front of a panel of judges to raise money for the UK charity, with viewers voting for their favourites.
Last month the channel announced that the show would return for Red Nose Day in 2017 as ‘Let’s Sing and Dance for Comic Relief’. Comic Relief spends the money raised by Red Nose Day to help people living tough lives across the UK and Africa
This time round, the celebrities will face a double challenge. They will be taking the mic as well as busting out some moves, as they have to sing as well as dance to some of pop’s biggest hits.
Mel and Sue will not only present the series but will have ‘access all areas’ to the performing celebrities’ routines and vocals. They will even hit the streets of Britain to enlist of the great British public in some of the biggest dance-offs ever. And with some surprise special guests in store, Saturday nights will be full of performances from some of the nation’s favourite faces.
The celebrities will then brave the stage to perform in front of a star-studded panel of celebrity and comedy guest judges, through three live heats before a live grand finale. Viewers at home and the panel will decide who makes it through to the final, with the audience crowning the eventual winner, all in aid of Comic Relief.

We hope that the celebrities doing their bit will encourage the nation to fundraise and donate to raise a life changing amount of money for people living the toughest lives in the UK and across Africa.”

Their warmth, wit, charm and chemistry – married with their genuine love of entertainment – are all a perfect fit for ‘Let’s Sing and Dance for Comic Relief’. They will challenge contestants to stretch their hamstrings, vocal chords and of course don red noses in the most memorable way possible.”
