Last week’s Autumn Fair attracted its best audience in four years, according to show organiser Emap Connect Home & Gift.
Ramped-up promotional activity resulted in visitor numbers being significantly up on every day of the show, with final footfall figures 9% higher than last year at 31,340. This is the highest attendance at the Birmingham show since 2006.
Visitors included independent retailers and many of the major department stores and multiples, including John Lewis, Lakeland, Argos, Bentalls, Beales, Selfridges, BHS, Debenhams, Dunelm Mill, Fenwick, House of Fraser, Littlewoods, Poundland and Scotts & Co, while amongst the supermarkets were Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Asda and Waitrose.
The show also attracted a large contingent of international buyers from 76 countries: 6.5% more visitors from overseas attended this year’s show than last.
