John Lewis’ ‘At home’ format stores led branch performance tables for the department store group in the week to April 26, with Newbury, Tamworth, Swindon and Poole making up the top four.

For the full-line shops, High Wycombe, Milton Keynes and Solihull showed ‘robust’ growth while newest shop York traded ‘above expectations’.

John Lewis buying director for home Christine Kasoulis said the Home directorate recorded solid sales, up 2.7%, while EHT (Electricals & Home Technology) achieved growth of 29.6%. Notable performances were from Audio and Gaming (up 55%) and Vision (up 48%) in advance of the launch of John Lewis branded TVs this week.

Meanwhile, John Lewis’ Easter trading performance, judged on the two weeks of trade over the Easter period, was 3.9% up – representing its strongest Easter result ever.
