Inspired by competitive baking TV shows, the LEGO Friends Baking Competition Set (£35.00) is aimed at budding junior bakers and play makers. The set features a TV studio baking show with two cooking stations and a main stage for the competition winner. It includes rotating cake stands, ovens, accessories (such as a whisk, chocolate, cash check, trophy, milk carton, packets of sugar and icing, plus kitchen equipment) and mini-dolls Stephanie, David and a judge, to recreate the shows that kids watch with the family. Players spin the wheel above the stage to choose which ingredients the bakers must include and get creative with the decorations.

On a deeper level of floorcare, the VAX ONEPWR Glide Cordless Hardfloor Cleaner (£249.99) washes, vacs and dries all at the same time. Argos says this new technology multi-surface hardfloor cleaner kills 99.9% of bacteria.
Other small appliances include the Russell Hobbs Honeycomb Breakfast Family range of kettles and toasters, available in black, white and grey and priced at £24.99 per item; the Tefal Actifry Genius XL 2-in-1 Low Oil Fryer (£299.99); and the George Foreman Smokeless BBQ Grill (£69.99). With smokeless technology, the grill plate is designed to direct hot fat into the drip tray underneath – cooling it immediately and eliminating the burning that creates the smoke and smell, meaning it can be used both inside and outside.
Argos says: ‘The Skandi collection offers efficient, space-saving pieces to suit a range of different styles. Soft curves and clean lines are central to the aesthetic, with many pieces featuring light wood finishes, notably the Charlie Chair – Mint (£60.00) and artisanal touches, such as leather pull handles on storage pieces.
