Described as ‘a unique and fun-filled way to shop’, Treasure Truck will initially pop up in Manchester and London several times a month, featuring one product at a time, with more cities to follow.
Each product is a surprise and customers will have to act fast to get their hands on the kit, with only limited stock on the truck. After customers purchase the product on the Amazon app, they then select a convenient time and place to pick up the item at the truck.
Amazon said offers will include ‘exclusive items made just for Treasure Truck, trending tech, seasonal must-haves, delicious food, favourites from local businesses, amazing deals on limited edition items and much more. All products will be carefully selected to create a spontaneous, one-of-a-kind shopping experience’.
The retailer added: ‘It won’t just be about the product: customers will be greeted by a ‘delight squad’ – the truck’s specially trained crew – to ensure that everyone has truckloads of fun. Occasional celebrity appearances, interactive games, special seasonal events and on-the-spot prize giveaways are just some of the things thrown in to brighten up the day.’
Amazon.co.uk head of Treasure Truck James Quick explained: “We all remember the sense of excitement we felt as children when we heard the jingle of the ice-cream van, and we hope to bring that same feeling with Treasure Truck.
“Every product has been cherry-picked, from must-have Christmas presents to jaw-dropping offers, ensuring Treasure Truck will turn an ordinary day into something a bit more special. Savvy shoppers should sign up now to be the first in the know.”
Customers can sign up by texting ‘truck’ to 87377 to be among the first to find out when and where the truck will be, plus the offer of the day. By texting TRUCK to 87377 they agree to receive messages (including marketing messages) from Amazon about Treasure Truck. They may opt out at any time by texting STOP to 87377. Standard message and data rates may apply. When the truck is ready to drive into town, they will receive a text alert revealing details of that day’s treasure.

Treasure Truck launched in Amazon’s hometown of Seattle in February 2016 and has since expanded to 24 cities including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles and New York.
Products have ranged from the Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition and GoPro cameras, to Christmas toys from Wowee Fingerlings and Hatchimals.
Already in the US this year, the trucks have seen thousands of customers join in a dance party when Skullcandy headphones were the surprise offer of the day, as well as thousands of Potterheads appear, as if by magic at midnight, to celebrate the release of ‘Harry Potter and The Cursed Child’.
Hungry customers have also bagged steaks and seafood, including over 20,000 oysters to date, while learning how to shuck at the truck.
