Amazon.co.uk has published its first report into how customers have shopped and the trends of 2015 so far.
Since starting out as a bookseller in 1998, Amazon.co.uk has rapidly expanded year-on-year and now offers customers more than 120 million products across more than 30 stores.
The report features updates and trends from across its UK business including the ‘fast-growing’ Home category. Amazon said that in early 2015, customers embraced the spring colours of the new season in the Amazon.co.uk HomeStore, from citrus lemons and limes through to candy pinks and bold blues.
Also proving popular was a Scandinavian look, combining natural, stripped-back wood with whites along with metallics, particularly copper, used in lighting, cooking and dining alongside concrete and marble home accessories.
In the kitchen, the spiralizer reigns supreme. Amazon.co.uk said explained: “The New Year always sees a trend for healthy eating and drinking, sending sales of juicers and blenders rising. But thanks to cookbooks such as ‘Deliciously Ella’ by Ella Woodward and ‘The Art of Eating Well’ by Jasmine Hemsley and Melissa Hemsley, it’s the spiralizer that has proved a runaway success.” Popular models include the Zoodle Chef Vegetable Spiralizer, Lurch Spirali Vegetable Spiralizer and Hemsley + Hemsley Spiralizer.

The changes in the weather have also impacted sales in 2015. The bout of chilly weather saw soup mugs and flasks sell well, alongside slow cookers and electric blankets. The nation also splashed out on new spring cleaning appliances while being stuck indoors.
Amazon.co.uk concluded: “With the welcome turn in the weather, it’s lunchboxes for salads, blackout blinds and linings to get a good night’s sleep and blenders to blitz fruit and vegetables into transportable smoothies that have proved popular.”
Housewares best sellers for 2015 to date include the Sistema rice cooker, Sistema soup mug, Sistema Salad To Go lunchbox, Hemsley + Hemsley Spiralizer, Tefal 5-piece Essential cookware set, fruit infusing water bottle, Rink Drink latte coffee glasses, Mr Tea Infuser, Arerobie AeroPress coffee maker and vintage Edison light bulb.
