Twelve suppliers of cutting-edge designed products are the winners of the gia Global Innovation Awards for product innovation, held at the 2014 International Home + Housewares Show in Chicago last week.

Honored in the Best Collection Design category was Magisso for its Naturally Cooling Ceramics. The finalists were Carl Mertens for Verso Collection and Ekobo Ecology & Design for BIOBU Bamboo Kids Collection

The Best Product Design honorees were Crucial Detail for The Porthole, Joseph Joseph for Twin-cut Compact 2-in-1 Scissors, and Sagaform for Green – Mini Greenhouse. The finalists were Dreamfarm for Onpot, Monbento for MB LIB, Parallax Horizon for MeltThat!, Room Copenhagen for Ole Jensen Colander and Winestor for Savino.

“The winners were selected by a panel of design experts who judged them on inspired design quality, brand positioning, outstanding craftsmanship, exclusive market focus and design-focused sustainability,” said Phil Brandl, president/CEO of the International Housewares Association, which owns and operates the International Home + Housewares Show and sponsors the Global Innovation Awards.

The 2014 International Home + Housewares Show was held on March 15-18 at Chicago’s McCormick Place and featured nearly 2,100 exhibitors and 60,000 total attendees from around the globe.
