‘Delicious’ is back for a second series

Actresses Dawn French and Emilia Fox are back on Sky 1 for a new run of foodie drama ‘Delicious’ this year.

The return of ‘Delicious’ follows a hugely successful first serving of the drama in December 2016, which delivered an average cumulative audience of 1.87 million, making it the most watched UK drama series on Sky 1 for the year.

The series saw Dawn and Emilia Fox in a tale of love, sex, deceit and betrayal. The two women went go head to head after being betrayed by the same man.

Dawn played passionate cook Gina, who was once married to Leo Vincent (Iain Glen), a successful entrepreneur, chef and hotel owner in Cornwall.

Leo owed much of his success to Gina’s exceptional cooking, but after leaving her for the glamorous Sam (Emilia), his business continued to thrive.

When Sam had suspicions that Leo was having an affair she confided in Gina, confident that she would recognise the signs – only to discover that it was Gina herself who was the ‘other woman’.

‘Delicious’ also starred Sheila Hancock as Leo’s mother Mimi, and newcomers Ruairi O’Connor as Leo and Sam’s son Michael, and Tanya Reynolds as Leo and Gina’s daughter Teresa.

The second helping will reunite them with writer Dan Sefton (‘Good Karma Hotel, ‘Secret Diary of a Call Girl’), director Clare Kilner (‘The Wedding Date’) and creators Bandit Television, part of Endemol Shine Group, for Sky 1.

Dawn said: “I’m utterly delighted that there will be more of ‘Delicious’. It’s that rare thing where everything from every department comes together well, and Dan is already cooking up some remarkable storylines. I can’t wait to be back in Gina’s apron, up to my elbows in flour and up to my neck in trouble. Bring it on!”

Emilia added: “I’m absolutely thrilled that there is going to be a second helping of ‘Delicious’. It was a delight to work on in every way and the response from the audience was such a joy.

“I can’t wait to be back working with Dawn and the wonderful cast and crew on more ‘Delicious’ storylines from Dan. Thank you to Sky for inviting us back!”

Adam MacDonald, director of Sky 1, commented: “We can’t wait to welcome ‘Delicious’ to Sky 1 in 2017. Delicious delivered our largest average audience for a Sky 1 original drama in 2016, so we knew we had to put it back on the menu. Viewers can expect more love, more lies and more lip-smacking dishes to be served up next time around.”

It is not yet known if ‘Game of Thrones’ star Iain Glen will be returning. In series one his character narrated events from beyond the grave, after dying early on (just as Sam discovered what they had been up to with Gina). He told RadioTimes.com he would be keen to be in another series.
