‘Severe downturn’ forces closure of Irish Habitat stores

Both the Dublin and Galway shops have ceased trading, and Habitat’s franchise partner in the Republic, Conai Designs (Ireland), has applied for voluntary liquidation.

Conai Designs said in a statement: “Due to a severe downturn in sales in both our Galway and Dublin stores, it has become impossible to trade through the subsequent financial difficulties – particularly in light of the current economic environment.”

Conai Designs has worked with Habitat for six years. The retailer’s Belfast store, which is run by Conai Designs (Northern Ireland), is unaffected.
