Will this be Waitrose’s busiest checkout at Christmas?

Shelly Lochhead is set to be Waitrose’s busiest checkout person in the country tomorrow (Saturday December 23), which will be Britain’s busiest shopping day of the year.

Based on previous festive sales/sq ft of shop selling space calculations, Waitrose has forecast that Shelly’s shop in Cambridge is likely to be the supermarket chain’s busiest in the country during Britain’s peak hour for Christmas shopping of 11am and 12 noon.

With Shelly’s checkout in a prime position, she is likely to serve 400 people tomorrow. The 30-year-old part-timer has worked at the branch for 10 years.

Waitrose has 352 shops in England, Scotland, Wales and the Channel Islands, including 65 convenience branches, and 27 shops at Welcome Break locations.
