Tesco non-food jobs could face the axe

Tesco’s non-food business could bear the brunt of possible job losses as the supermarket conducts an annual review of its staff.
Recent reports have suggested that 300 posts – around a tenth of the total – could be at risk in the review at Tesco’s headquarters in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire. Any job losses will reportedly chiefly affect the non-food operations.

The retailer has been in talks with staff for the past month.

A spokesman for Tesco said: “We’re creating more than 10,000 jobs in the UK this year. Obviously, as part of that some functions grow and others do not.”
