Total sales for John Lewis & Partners were up 0.7% last week (to Saturday January 19) on the same week last year.
The department store group’s director of trade Simon Coble said: “Home sales were down 3.1%. Bath Shop had a good week with sales up 4.6% and Tabletop continued to perform well with sales up 5.7%. Gifts, Cook and Dine had another good week with sales up 4.9%.
“Electrical and Home Technology sales were down 1.0%. Tablet and Computing sales were up 5.2%, with strong demand for Apple products.
“Fashion sales were up 7.2%. Premium Women’s Accessories had a particularly strong week with sales up 97%. Cold weather products also performed well with sales up 10%.”
