Steamer Trading Cookshop identifies housewares used in episode three of Bake Off

Specialist retailer Steamer Trading Cookshop has posted a blog on its website listing the housewares used in the episode three of ‘The Great British Bake Off’, which aired last Tuesday (September 12) on Channel 4.

The theme of the show was Bread Week and the challenges were fruited tea cakes, a cottage loaf and a multi-coloured bread sculpture.

The list comprises:

1.Dough scraper – Steamer noted that this gadget is ‘not just for scraping but doubles as a chopper, and it’s essential for dividing your dough if you are making tea cakes (or any kind of individual buns!)’

2.Microplane grater

3.Measuring jugs

4.Silicone spatulas – ‘a wonderful tool when making any dough, thanks to the natural non-stick properties of the silicone material’

5.Measuring spoons

6.Martini glass (used by contestant Stephens for presenting his vodka butter) – ‘the right serving idea can transform a basic bake into a superb showstopper’

7.Rustic wooden boards

8.Slate platters

In episode four, which airs tonight (Tuesday September 19) at 8pm on Channel 4, the theme of the show is – for the very first time – caramel week. The challenges for the contestants include a ‘super sweet’ signature and a ‘double Dutch’ technical.
