Sheffield cookshop set to close in February

Independent retailer the Gifted Cook is closing down, with Saturday February 18 as its final trading day.

The specialist business on Abbeydale Road in the South Yorkshire city has been run by Jim Abbott and Peter Jackson for 13-plus years. Previously called Abbott’s Cookshop, it was recently rebranded the Gifted Cook with a new layout.

Explaining their decision, Jim and Peter told www.HousewaresLive.net: “We are pleased to announce that the Gifted Cook will close on February 18. We are choosing to go because we are not getting as much pleasure from retail as we used to, and feel that it’s best to leave while the shop is still profitable and enjoyable, rather than to oversee a gradual decline.”

In a message to suppliers, they added: “Thank you all for all the help and advice over the years.”
