Sarah Golden departs bira

The board of directors of bira (British Independent Retailers Association) has announced that Sarah Golden will leave her role as marketing, membership and publishing director on May 12.

Sarah has worked for the trade body since 2001.

Bira ceo Alan Hawkins said: “We cannot thank Sarah enough for the passion, enthusiasm and drive she has given to bira over the past 15 years.

“She will be greatly missed by the staff, the board, members and partners alike. We look forward to following the success of her career.” Sarah commented: “After a decade and a half with bira, the time has come for me to pursue new challenges and spend more time with my son before he starts school.

“While I have a mix of emotions (and some really fond memories) as I move into this next chapter of my career, I look forward to keeping in touch with my good friends and colleagues and to the exciting challenges ahead of me.”

Bira works with over 6,500 independent businesses of all sizes. Membership is open to independent retailers across the UK from single retail outlets to small chains, department stores, dealers and merchants, as well as associate membership for organisations servicing or allied to the independent retail sector.
