Sales of hydration and summer party products soar at John Lewis

Total sales at John Lewis last week (to Saturday July 21) were up 0.7%.

The department store group’s customer director Craig Inglis said: “Home sales were down 6.3%. However, hydration products were up 30% and summer party products were up 13%.”

He added that EHT (Electrical & Home Technology) sales were up 4.9%, with small electricals “having another good week, led by strong sales in fans and air purifiers as the hot weather continues”. Mobile phones, photo and wearable tech products also performed well.

Fashion sales were up 4.5%. Womenswear in particular had a good week, with sales up 7.4% on last year, driven by success in John Lewis’ own-brand ranges which were up 12% overall, with a standout performance from Kin, up 49%.
