Sainsbury’s shakes up cocktail hour

Sainsbury’s claims to be the first supermarket to launch a variety of cocktail ingredients in 35cl and 20cl bottles, retailing between £5 and £8.50.

The grocer said: ‘This range is designed to be affordable for everyone, so shoppers can swap the cocktail bar for their kitchen – and the bottle size ensures shoppers don’t need to invest heavily before experimenting with cocktail o’clock.’

Exclusively produced for Sainsbury’s by Gabriel Boudier, the range comprises: Crème de Cassis, 35cl (£7), Raspberry Liqueur, 35cl (£6.50), Crème de Peches, 35cl (£8), Bitters, 20cl (£5), Triple Sec, 35cl, (£8), Elderflower Liqueur, 35cl (£8.50), Hazelnut Liqueur 35cl (£8), Coffee Liqueur 35cl (£7) and Chocolate Liqueur.

The retailer added: ‘The nation’s thirst for all things cocktails is continually growing, with 151 million cocktails served in bars across the nation in 2017. These flavours have been created so cocktail lovers can skip the long queues and make the likes of a Kir Royal, Bellini, Old Fashioned or Martini in their kitchen – bringing the spirit of a bar to the home.’

Louise Lynch, product developer for beers, wines & spirits at Sainsbury’s, said: “This range is all about customers reclaiming the cocktail hour at home. Whether you are looking to impress on date night or are hosting a big party with family and friends, we want delicious cocktails to be affordable. The range allows for all types of recipes, from old classics to modern interpretations.”
