Housewares Innovation Awards finalists revealed!

The shortlists for the 2013 Housewares Innovation Awards have now been drawn up - revealing which products and retailers could be in line for the top accolades of the year.

The winners will be announced at The Housewares Conference & Innovation Awards

Two judging panels deliberated long and hard over the entries for the two sets of awards in order to pick the best candidates in each category. One winner was also chosen from each list of finalists, but the industry will have to wait for The Housewares Conference & Innovation Awards on April 16 to find out who those ultimate winners are.

The judges decided that the finalists in the product awards are:

Small Electricals Innovation Award - Nespresso U coffee machine, Kenwood FPM800 Multipro Sense food processor, KitchenAid 6.9 litre Artisan bowl-lift stand mixer and Krups Automatic Espresso EA9000 Series

Kitchenware Innovation Award - Bex Simon Hotra kitchen roll holder, Dexam Swift Splatter Shield, Hahn Starmaid Superstar popcorn maker, JWP Lock & Lock Twist storageware, Provenance Reuseful Provenance cookbook stand and Simplehuman Sensor Pump

Cookware & Bakeware Innovation Award - AGA stainless steel buffet pan, Premier cupcake/muffin tin & carrier, Alan Silverwood croquembouche mould and The Cookware Company GreenPan Venice range

Foodprep Innovation Award - Joseph Joseph TriScale folding digital kitchen scale, Eddingtons SinkStation colander, Green Pioneer Bambu large Artisan board, Dexam Rice Cube and TICCuk Edgeware adjustable knife sharpener

Tabletop Innovation Award - Root 7 Corkcicle wine chiller, LSA International Lotta collection, The DRH Collection cheese board by Clare Mackie, Sophie Allport 2012 tabletop collections and T&G Woodware Oblique black walnut CrushGrind salt & pepper mills

In the retailer awards the finalists are:

Under £1m - Classy Cooks, Emsworth, Hampshire, Papylon, north London, Upstairs Downstairs, Oswestry, Shropshire and Cook to Perfection, King's Lynn, Norfolk

£1m-£10m - Aga Cookshop and Kitchens (Catering Utensils)

Over £10m - Dunelm Mill, Lakeland, John Lewis, Selfridges, Heal's, Housing Units and Wilkinson Group

Rising Star - Stanger's Cookshop, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Blackheath Cooks, south London and The Oxford Pantry, Oxford

Meanwhile, nominations from retailers for the Housewares Salesperson of the Year award are still welcome: if you know of a salesperson out there worthy of winning an award, then we want to hear from you.

Judging the retailer awards were Ruth Cutter, sales director, ICTC; Natalie McVeigh, commercial director, IO Shen; Sharon Harris, head of sales, Robert Welch Designs; Jo Sanders, national accounts, LSA; and Kam Loqueman, representing Forma House, EPE and Pad Home.

Judging the product awards were Chris Lynn-Thomas, Kooks Unlimited, Richmond, Surrey; Nigel Havens, Havens, Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex; and Barry Seaman, Plate Tableware, Fulham, London.
