Cookmate's Typhoon window goes down a storm

Worcester cookshop Cookmate has scooped the winning prize in a window display competition organised by Typhoon - cleverly using an idea based on the Typhoon name.

Cookmate’s window provides “tension, movement and intrigue”

The shop designed a dramatic display of Typhoon products around a Cooking up a Storm theme.

Cookmate owner Caroline Kirkpatrick explains: "This theme was inspired by the Typhoon name and depicts a messy kitchen, as if after a whirlwind cooking session. Typhoon's products are shown in use or just about to be used in the creation of a feast. Objects are balanced or suspended mid-frenzy to create an air of tension, movement, intrigue to tell the story behind the scene."

Manageress Becky Harte adds: "Cookmate always aim to create a story so the viewer has something to think about, and we're particularly pleased with this theme. We've had great feedback from our customers."

Cookmate even held its own free prize draw for customers to win a selection of Typhoon products.

Typhoon challenges its Star retailers every season to come up with an award-winning window display, which must feature the current season's products. The prize is £500-worth of free stock. The next competition will be in the autumn.
