An appeal on behalf of the charity by BBC newsreader Louisa Preston, compering the event, raised £1,861.64 - and HousewaresLive.net publisher Faversham House Group immediately offered to round the figure up to £2,000.
Accepting the donation and thanking the audience, RDT vice-president Colin Petty also presented a bottle of champagne to Roger Vale, kitchens and bathrooms buyer at Stax Trade Centres, winner of the charity draw at the lunch.

Industry Awards lunch raises £2k for charity
Generous donations by guests at the annual Industry Awards lunch in London on May 9 raised a total of £2,000 for the Rainy Day Trust.
