Cumbria Crystal has announced the appointment of award-winning designer Katy Holford as its creative director.
The British glass and crystal designer has had an extensive career within the luxury and design-led sector, winning the Laurent Perrier Design Award in 2004.
Based in Ulverston in the Lake District, Cumbria Crystal is the sole remaining producer of hand-blown and hand-cut English full lead crystal. Its main client base has been the bespoke sector, creating pieces for prestigious private clients.
The company says that the appointment of Holford will ensure its future in a difficult economic environment, when so many other English craft factories have been lost.
Holford hopes to take the company forward in both the UK and international markets, working across both classic and contemporary English collections of crystal stemware and giftware.
