K is for Kitchen wins Charles Viancin Retailer of the Month Award

K is for Kitchen has been crowned Retailer of the Month for October by Charles Viancin.

The housewares supplier introduced its six month awards programme in May, with the focus on retail customers’ social media activity.

Individual retailers are judged on how well they interact with customers online and the extent of their social media involvement.

Over the period, Charles Viancin’s six agents have taken it in turns to nominate a retailer in their area.

The agent for the West Country Region chose K is for Kitchen, which is an independent cookshop in the Oxfordshire town of Watlington, owned by Amanda Hinton.

Peter Battersby, head of Charles Viancin UK operations, said: “Amanda Hinton is the ultimate user of social media to promote her business. She uses Instagram all the time for quick and easy images and Facebook when she wants a story to link to the K is for Kitchen website.

“She organises cookery events once a month – the current one being Christmas canapes – in conjunction with the Hampton Cookery School at Thame.

“And she has been instrumental in organising a stunning booklet promoting independent retailers in Watlington, which is being mailed out to 10,000 homes in the area.”

The full list of winners over the past six months is:

October – K is for Kitchen, Watlington, Oxfordshire – West Country

September – Cutlacks of Ely, Cambridgeshire – East Anglia

August – The Wooden Spoon Cookshop, Leek, Staffordshire – Midlands

July – The Foodhall at Gretna Green – Scotland

June – Cooking Fantastic, Harrogate, North Yorkshire – North England

May – Steamer Trading Cookshop, Horsham, West Sussex – London and the South East
