Joseph Joseph triumphs in Red Dot Awards 2016

Two products from housewares supplier Joseph Joseph  – the Dial and SmartBar – have been named as Red Dot Award winners.

A total of 5,200 products from 57 nations registered to enter the Red Dot Award, which is an international distinction for high design quality.

An independent expert panel assessed each entry based on criteria such including innovation, quality, functionality and ecological compatibility.

Dial (pictured) is a datable food container designed to ‘revolutionise’ the way consumers store food and help reduce food waste. The range of stackable containers comes with a rotating dial to record both the day and month, ensuring food nevergoes passed its ‘use by’ date.

SmartBar is a stainless steel refillable liquid soap bar that helps remove strong odours from foods such as onion and garlic and replaces it with the fragrance of soap.

Professor Dr. Peter Zec, founder and president of the Red Dot Award, said: “The Red Dot winners not only demonstrate an extraordinary design quality, but also show that design is an integral part of innovative product solutions.”

The Red Dot Award is organised by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany.
