TK Maxx sister retail fascia HomeSense has now completed its initial six-store opening programme in the UK – but TK Maxx is not about to introduce yet another homewares chain, as reported this week in the national press.
A spokesperson for TK Maxx told HousewaresLive.net that newspaper reports that the company planned to open more than 100 home furnishings stores over the next three years were “confused”.
She said that the plans were actually to continue to open more HomeSense stores. “We very much see it as building a chain of homewares stores,” she said. However, she added: “We’ve never said 100, and there’s no confirmation in terms of the roll-out plan.”
HomeSense, a major operator in Canada, opened six stores in the UK this April and May – in Poole, Cardiff, Bristol, Northampton, Manchester and Gloucester. The stores deliver the same off-price concept as TK Maxx, offering top brand names at knock-down prices and focussing on rapid stock turnover.
