Design Caribbean to make Autumn Fair debut

Caribbean designers and producers will be exhibiting under the umbrella brand Design Caribbean at Autumn Fair, which is taking place at Birmingham’s NEC from September 6-9.

 

Produced and managed by the Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export), Design Caribbean faciliated the award of grants for 11 designers to attend the event. The brand will showcase a selection of the region’s handmade products and designs in contemporary craft.

 

Representing eight Caribbean islands, each designer will bring their creative concepts for handmade jewellery and home accessories to the Design Caribbean stand. Examples include Earthworks (pictured) from Barbados, which will display red clay ceramics alongside Guyanese producer Rainforest Pottery, which will present a contemporary interpretation of traditional Amerindian motifs etched into clay sculptures made from Guyanese kaolin and red clay.
