Debenhams opens new Wolverhampton store

Debenhams opened a new department store in Wolverhampton last Thursday (October 12).

The 93,000sq ft branch, located at the Mander Shopping Centre in the heart of the West Midlands town, offers home, fashion and beauty over three floors.

Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club star Jody Craddock, Wolverhampton Mayor Elias Masih Mattu and ‘local hero’ Ann Guest cut the ribbon to the brand new shop.

Ann was selected by the store team to officiate the opening, following a call for local residents to nominate someone who deserved a pampering makeover at the store.

She was chosen for her ongoing work within the local Spring Valley housing estate. Ann regularly organises local fayres to raise money for families to go on days out and visits the homes of people that are ill or unable to go outside.

Debenhams said: ‘Ann has worked tirelessly over the years to promote the interests of her neighbours and ensure they have their say over the services that they receive.’

Jody commented: “Ann is a very special lady and it was a pleasure to open the new Debenhams Wolverhampton store alongside her.”

Ann said: “I love living in Wolverhampton. It has such an amazing neighbourly spirit. and I’m sure the new Debenhams will be a focal point for the community from now on.”

Debenhams trades out of more than 260 stores across 27 countries. The business serves over 19 million customers with over 5 million visits online per week and deliveries to 60 countries.
