Bira reveals award winners

The British Independent Retailers Association announced the winners of its annual awards at a ceremony held at the Jurys Inn in Hinckley Island, Leicestershire on May 10.

The annual awards celebrate the talent, hard work, innovation and achievements of bira members.

Bira ceo Alan Hawkins said: “The talent in our industry never fails to impress and amaze me. Our members are doing incredible things, not only for retail but also for their local communities and charities. Congratulations to all of our very deserving winners and runners-up, who really deserve their accolades.”

The 2018 bira award winners are:

*Independent Retail Employee of the Year: Sophie Bass of Sugar & Ice

*Team of the Year: Roobarb Retail

*Retail Business of the Year: Aspire Style

*Local Hero: Chris Patterson of Pattersons

*Charitable Champion Winners: Jeff Baker of Connect Distribution Services; Diane Bunn of Bunns Cakes & Bakes; Kevin Bellwood of Roobarb Retail; and Matthew Hansford of Hansfords Menswear

*Expansion of the Year: Vin Vara of The Toolshop Group
