For the first time in its 110-year history BHF Group has a female president – Sadie Chalkley of Tenbury Wells’ JG Banfield, her family firm.
She was voted into office by members at the group AGM and also re-elected chairman of the British Hardware Federation division.
Chalkley will preside over the most significant year for the retail trade association in its history to date: the proposed merger by the year end with the British Shops and Stores Association.
It will lead to the creation of the largest trade association for independent non-food retailers, and the worldwide IHA Congress in September will be the biggest event of its type that the group has hosted.
