The event, billed as a ‘friendly but competitive networking, business and social occasion’, was held on July 19 at The Welcombe Golf Club in Stratford-upon-Avon.
DIY, hardware and cookshop retailer members of bira (British Independent Retailers Association) battled it out on the green with DIY, hardware and housewares supplier members of BHETA (British Home Enhancement Trade Association).
The Welcombe championship standard 18-hole course is set in 157 acres of Warwickshire countryside. Having hosted the European Seniors Tour Ryder Event in 1998, this par-70, 6,288-yard course is home to lakes and hills, providing a tricky round for players of all abilities.
BHETA scooped the overall ‘winning association’ prize on the day and the individual winners were:
Nearest the Pin – Martin Rayner, Creative Tops
Longest Drive – Rhys Betteridge, Plasti-Kote
Individual Winner – Jonathan Langford, Croydex
Top Four Ball – Croydex
In a joint statement, the associations said: “Thank you to all members that took part. We look forward to hosting Tussle on the Turf again in 2018.”
