BHETA to hold ‘Meet the Buyer’ event with Home Hardware

BHETA is to host a ‘Meet the Buyer’ day with Home Hardware on Tuesday October 27 at a hotel in or near Barnstaple in Devon.

The event is being run in conjunction with GIMA (Garden Industry Manufacturer’s Association).

Home Hardware is a dealer-owned wholesaler, which is the largest voluntary organisation of its kind in the UK. It is owned by its retail members, which comprise 450-plus independent hardware retailers, housewares shops, cookshops, ironmongers and garden centres.

The award-winning business is headquartered in north Devon, with two warehouses in Barnstaple and Bedford. Members receive marketing support including six seasonal promotional leaflets, catalogues and trade shows.

At the ‘Meet the Buyer’ day, Home Hardware is looking for suppliers of products to feature in its key 2018 Home and Garden Brochure and Summer Leisure Brochure, which will be distributed to over 1.2 million homes in 2018. The objective is for the catalogue to feature ‘new and innovative products offering outstanding value’.

Subject to performance, chosen lines will also be stocked in Home Hardware’s warehouses and could therefore form part of its core product offering.

This initiative also offers the opportunity to support and target new independent retail channels as well as reinforcing commitment to existing independent distribution.

Participants will be allocated a 20-minute appointment slot with relevant buyers. The Home Hardware team will be headed up on the day by Jim Chadwick, along with five key buyers.

A maximum of two people from each supplier company will be allowed and suppliers are urged to use the time available to concentrate on the features and benefits of the products they have to offer, supported by cost price proposals.

BHETA home enhancement sector director Will Jones commented: “This is a unique opportunity for new and existing Home Hardware suppliers and is sure to attract a big response. There will be a limit to the number of people that can be accommodated on the day.

“Interested suppliers are therefore urged to indicate on the Product Category Form, by return, which product category or categories are of interest, no later than September 29. We can then make the arrangements and confirm well in advance of the day.”
